Wilfred Ndidi is reportedly set to be confirmed as the new captain of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following the international retirement of former skipper William Troost-Ekong.
Troost-Ekong announced his retirement from international duty on Thursday, bringing an end to a remarkable decade of leadership and commitment to Nigeria.
Ndidi, who previously wore the armband during the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs in Morocco last month, is now expected to take up the role permanently for the AFCON campaign.
Since making his national team debut in August 2015, Ndidi has accumulated 71 caps, cementing his place as one of the team’s most influential figures on and off the pitch.
