Super Eagles Skipper Ndidi Mourns Father’s Death

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is mourning the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who died in a fatal road accident in Umunede, Delta State. Punch Newspapers reported that the retired military officer was rushed to a hospital in Agbor, where he was confirmed dead. Ndidi’s club, Besiktas, announced the loss, saying it was “deeply saddened… by the tragic passing” and offering prayers and condolences to the family.

The tragedy comes weeks after Nigeria won a record ninth AFCON bronze medal in Morocco, with Ndidi playing a key role. He recently recalled his father’s influence, saying, “Celebrating like Kanu… is my way of saying thank you.” Tributes continue nationwide. Fans teammates and leaders have pledged support during this painful period.
