Super Eagles: Kelechi Iheanacho Speaks Emotionally About His Nigeria Recall
Kelechi Iheanacho has spoken emotionally about his return to the Super Eagles after being recalled by Eric Chelle to the squad for Tuesday's friendly match against Russia
Speaking in an interview with the Nigeria Football Federation, the 30-year-old opened up about how long he has been part of the system and why playing for Nigeria still means so much to him.
“I've been in the national team for a very long time, from Under-12, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, all the way to the Super Eagles. I've been here for a long time.
"I'm not in the national team because of anybody or anything. It's because of the love I have for the game and the passion. Every Nigerian dreams of playing for the Super Eagles, and I've been living that dream for a long time,” he said.
The striker also made it clear that he will always answer Nigeria's call, no matter the level.
“Even if na five-a-side Eagles they dey play, or na Under-15, if they invite me make I come play, I go play. E no matter wetin e be because na my passion. Anything wey anybody wan talk, e no concern me. As long as coach give me call-up, I go come play.”
Iheanacho returns to the Super Eagles in good form after a strong start at Bursaspor, where he has scored 11 goals in eight games. He is part of the squad for the friendly against Russia on October 6.
