Sundowns Coach Cardoso Demands Proof of Worth from New Signing Jayden Adams

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has made it clear that new player Jayden Adams will have to work hard to get a place in the starting team. He won’t get any special treatment just because he moved from Stellenbosch FC.

Adams hopes to leave a lasting impact at Sundowns, where he signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. Cardoso emphasized, nonetheless, that he had to put up constant effort and do quality work. "Anyone who joins the team has to prove themselves, but we trust our players," the Portuguese coach stated. "We won’t give anyone an easy pass. They need to step up and show they are better than the rest."

In the midfield, where players like Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, and Sphelele Mkhulise are already vying for starting spots, Adams will have fierce competition. The top players will earn their place on the pitch, and Cardoso is willing to assess and discuss performances daily despite the fierce competition.

The 23-year-old midfielder, a former Bafana Bafana international, wants to emulate Iqraam Rayners, a colleague from Stellenbosch who also transferred to Sundowns. With important tournaments like the PSL, CAF Champions League, and Nedbank Cup coming up, Adams will have many chances to establish himself.
