Streak broken. Real Madrid fails to reach the Champions League semifinals for the first time since the 2019/20 season

Real Madrid and Arsenal faced off in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League. The Spaniards were defeated 1-2 and were eliminated from the tournament with an aggregate score of 1-5. Thus, an impressive streak came to an end.

Details: Since the 2020/21 season, Real Madrid had consistently reached at least the semifinals of the Champions League. In 2021, the Madrid side reached the semifinals, won the trophy in 2022, reached the semifinals again in 2023, and reclaimed the championship in the previous edition. Now, Real has officially relinquished its title as the reigning champion of the tournament.

But just two minutes after the goal, Arsenal created a problem for themselves. David Raya played the ball to William Saliba, but he couldn't get rid of it in time and literally handed it to Vinícius.

In the 24th minute, the referee initially awarded a penalty against Arsenal. However, after four minutes of VAR review, the referee overturned his original decision.
