Strasbourg finds Rosenoir's replacement! Gary O’Neil could take the helm
With current Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenoir now in talks with Chelsea and on the verge of being appointed by the London club, the French side has started looking for alternatives—and appears to have settled on one candidate.
Details: According to The Athletic, Strasbourg is in negotiations with Gary O’Neil to take over as head coach, with a final decision expected as early as today. If O’Neil gets the job, it will mark his first stint outside of England.
O’Neil previously managed Wolverhampton and Bournemouth, but has been out of work since his dismissal from Wolves in December 2024. In November 2025, he held preliminary talks about a Premier League return to replace Vítor Pereira, but later turned down the opportunity, feeling it wasn’t the right moment for him.
Currently, Strasbourg sits seventh in Ligue 1. Their next match is a Coupe de France clash against fourth-division Avranches, scheduled for Saturday, January 10, with kickoff at 18:00 Central European Time. The expectation is that the new coach will be in place to prepare the team for that fixture.
Reminder: Liam Rosenoir commented on the rumors of a move to Chelsea.
