Start of the Senegalese league season postponed

The Senegalese professional league will not begin on Saturday 3 October 2026 as planned.

The Senegalese Football Federation has decided to postpone the start of the league until Saturday 17 October 2026, due to a busy international fixture list for the national teams. This decision was taken unanimously by the governing body’s Emergency Committee following a meeting held on Tuesday 29 September 2026.

The members examined the schedule for domestic competitions in light of the international commitments of the various national teams. After review, the Committee noted that the period initially set for the start of the league coincided with several scheduled international fixtures.

To enable players, clubs and national teams to benefit from optimal conditions for preparation and participation, the Senegalese Football Federation has therefore decided to postpone the start of the championship by two weeks.

According to the Federation, this decision aims to better align the domestic competition calendar with that of the national teams. The clubs concerned now have a new date to adjust their schedules.
