The FIA has officially confirmed a delay to the start of the formation lap for the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix.
Details: The race at the legendary Suzuka Circuit will now begin 10 minutes later than originally scheduled – at 14:10 local time and 07:10 Central European Time.
The decision to delay was made to ensure driver safety after an incident occurred in one of the support series shortly before the Formula 1 cars were due to head to the starting grid.
The reason for the pause was the urgent need to repair the safety barriers at Turn 12. During a support race, a major crash saw one of the cars slam into the barriers, causing significant damage to both the structure and the safety fencing.
It's worth noting that the Japanese Grand Prix pole position was claimed by Italian driver Kimi Antonelli.
Reminder: Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton are on the verge of breaking up due to the racer's mother's disapproval.
