It's reported that alongside Xavi, former Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim is also in the running for the Benfica job. However, given that Amorim previously coached Sporting, the option of joining Benfica might not appeal to him.
The exit of current head coach José Mourinho from Lisbon is seen as inevitable, with Real Madrid making every effort to lure him away.
Xavi's most recent role was at Barcelona, where he was at the helm from 2021 to 2024. He managed 143 matches for the Blaugrana, winning 91, drawing 23, and suffering 29 defeats.
