With one year remaining on his contract, the Senegalese international wishes to leave the Spanish club and is said to have decided to take action to force a move. The 32-year-old refused to train with his Rayo Vallecano team-mates on Monday 24 August.

The Senegalese central midfielder, who has been with the Spanish club since 2021, believes that the club’s management is not showing a genuine willingness to listen to clubs interested in signing him, whilst he would like to start a new chapter in his career.

Pathé Ciss’s refusal to train from now on is a sign of an increasingly tense situation, with several clubs closely monitoring the Senegalese player’s situation. Beşiktaş and Al-Shabab are among the clubs interested in the Senegalese midfielder.

However, Rayo Vallecano does not appear willing to facilitate his departure. The Madrid-based club is reportedly still demanding the €10 million release clause.
