Rúben Amorim's departure from Sporting has dealt a significant blow to the club, both emotionally and in terms of results. His successor, João Pereira, has failed to fill the shoes with the iconic coach effectively.

Details: According to Record, the Lisbon club is preparing to dismiss Pereira, who only took charge in mid-November following Amorim's exit. Sporting is currently finalizing the bureaucratic details of his departure.

The club has reportedly identified a likely candidate for the managerial role. Per the same source, Rui Borges, the current coach of Vitória de Guimarães, is expected to take over. The 43-year-old has previously managed smaller Portuguese teams.

Reminder: Pereira’s tenure began with a victory on November 22 in the Portuguese Cup against Amarante. However, that was one of just two wins in eight matches under his leadership.
