Sporting Lagos Coach Jeffrey Buter Delighted as Okoro Makes Comeback After Year Out
Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has expressed his delight at seeing Odinaka Okoro return to action after nearly a year on the sidelines.
The midfielder made his return during Sporting Lagos’ Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Eight encounter against Bendel Insurance at the Onikan Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking after the match with Sporting Theory, Buter praised the midfielder's resilience, noting the difficult period he endured while away from competitive football.
"We are happy for him. He's a tough kid, to suffer what he has suffered. One year out, not having competitive football, and a lot of things that have happened behind the scenes, and for him to fight and show a lot of character to get playing time in the NPFL like this, we are really excited for him," Buter said.
The coach believes the return could mark a turning point for Okoro.
"Hopefully, this is a new chapter for him to continue his progress," he added, as the player looks to rebuild his form and consistency after a tough timel away from the game.
