Speculation Swirls Over Seema’s Future With Sekhukhune United Amid Tinkler Links, Will He Stay or Go?
Sekhukhune United have dismissed speculation suggesting that head coach Lehlohonolo Seema is facing an uncertain future at the club, amid reports linking them with former Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler.
Club's Official Stance
Sekhukhune United general manager Phineas Madisha refuted these claims, stating that the club remains focused on its current progress under Seema.
“At Babina Noko, when there's news to share, we will send out a statement to publications, radio, and social media pages,” Madisha told Ukhozi FM.
“At the moment, maybe there are people outside who want to destabilize us, as they see the team doing well. Our coach is focused on the job at hand and working really well. We don’t see any reason, at this moment, to speak about the coach.”
Seema’s Response to the Rumors
Despite ongoing speculation, Seema remains unfazed, insisting that his priority is leading the team to success in the Betway Premiership and Nedbank Cup.
“I think anyone who is disturbed won’t be getting these kinds of results,” Seema told SowetanLive after Sekhukhune's 2-1 victory over Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup last 16.
“The players are happy, and the management is also happy. We have tried a lot to block external factors.”
Strong Performance Under Seema
Since returning in August 2024, Seema has guided Sekhukhune to fourth place in the PSL standings with 31 points from 19 matches (9 wins, 4 draws, and 6 losses). The team is also set to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on March 8 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Before that, Sekhukhune will battle Richards Bay in a PSL fixture at King Zwelithini Stadium on March 6, a crucial match that could further solidify their league position.
