On Sunday, September 29, a match took place between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid. During the game, an unfortunate incident occurred involving "Atleti" fans.
Some of them began throwing lighters and other objects at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, prompting the match to be temporarily suspended. The referee noted all of this in his report and forwarded it to the Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation, which has already reached a decision.
Details: According to Marca, a section of the southern stand at the Wanda Metropolitano will be closed for the next three matches. Additionally, Atlético has been fined €45,000. Furthermore, the club's management may choose to appeal this decision.
Reminder: Over the weekend, Real Madrid and Atlético played to a 1-1 draw in the Madrid derby, but the match was marred by the behavior of Atlético fans, who threw objects at Thibaut Courtois and shouted "Die" at him. The club is now looking to mitigate potential sanctions from La Liga.
