At Juba Stadium, South Sudan put on a show of strength in the first leg on Thursday 26 March.
South Sudan’s dominance was complete. Although the first 30 minutes were tense, the deadlock was eventually broken by Teng Kuol. He opened the scoring in the 31st minute, giving South Sudan the lead. The two teams went into the break with the score at a narrow 1-0.
But the second half proved too much for Djibouti. Bangasi doubled the lead in the 49th minute to make it 2-0.
