South Africa U20 national team still awaiting prize money for AFCON victory

The South Africa U20 national team clinched triumph at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. While rewarding the players for their trophy-winning campaign would certainly be fitting, the federation currently lacks the means to do so.
Details: South African Football Association President Danny Jordaan revealed that the CAF has yet to transfer the prize money of 3.6 million rand. Only once the funds reach the federation’s accounts will a decision be made on how to allocate them.
Quote: “We have not yet received the money from CAF, and when we do, we will decide how to distribute it. One thing we know—and you know—is that South African football has not missed a single international match. We are fulfilling our commitments; we are even playing in (African Nations Championship).
In the past, we did not participate in CHAN. Now we compete in all tournaments organized by both CAF and FIFA, which means flights, accommodation, daily allowances, and everything else. And we are meeting our obligations,” Jordaan stated.
