Following CAF's expansion of the competition from 12 to 16 teams, South Africa's U-17 national side, Amajimbos, has formally qualified for the 2025 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The young South Africans had narrowly missed out on direct qualification after finishing third in the 2024 COSAFA U-17 Championship. However, the expansion secured them a spot alongside regional finalists Zambia and Angola.
The 2025 U-17 AFCON will take place in Morocco from March 30 to April 19, where 10 teams will earn tickets to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in November.
The tournament's official draw is yet to be conducted, which will determine South Africa’s group-stage opponents.
