South Africa: "For me, there's no such thing as a friendly," Hugo Broos said before the match against Zambia
Approaching Saturday's friendly against Zambia with the same rigor and mindset as during the World Cup or Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers is Hugo Broos's wish.
The Bafana Bafana coach stated that, for him, every match demands concentration and commitment.
“We are preparing for the friendly match against Zambia on Saturday. But for me, there is no such thing as a friendly. Every match demands concentration and commitment. We must always play to win, and this match will be no exception. I want victory on Saturday,” said Hugo Broos.
Having qualified for the 2026 World Cup, the South African national team will face their regional neighbor, Zambia, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Eastern Cape province.
This match is part of the Belgian coach’s preparations for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scheduled for the end of the year. Kick-off is at 3:00 PM local time.
Bafana Bafana will remain in Johannesburg until Friday morning before traveling to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) for their final test before the Africa Cup of Nations.
