South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has left out Nigerian-born defender Ime Okon from his final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Okon was initially included in a 55-man provisional list released two weeks ago, but the Hannover defender did not make the final 25-man squad announced yesterday.

The 21-year-old, who has made five appearances for Bafana Bafana, was born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother.

South Africa will open their training camp on 8 December. Bafana begin their AFCON 2025 campaign against Angola on 22 December, face Egypt four days later, and complete their Group B fixtures against Zimbabwe on 29 December.
