In the second leg of the previous UEFA Champions League round, Newcastle United defeated Qarabag FK 3–2 at home, advancing with a dominant 9–3 aggregate scoreline.

Details: Newcastle became the sixth English side to book a place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. According to Stats Foot, this is the first time in history that six English clubs have reached this stage of the competition.

The Round of 16 will feature: Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea.

In the previous match, the Magpies struck five times in the first half to surge into a commanding 5–0 lead. Newcastle became only the second team in history to hold a five-goal advantage before the break in a Champions League knockout match.

Reminder: On Wednesday, 25 February, Real Madrid will host Benfica in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off tie. However, they will be without their star forward.
