Somalia President Reportedly Set to Reward Referee Omar Artan With House After World Cup Setback
In a remarkable show of support, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is reportedly set to reward FIFA and CAF referee Omar Artan with a five-bedroom house following his disappointment ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to reports, plans are already underway for the special gesture, which comes just days after Artan was forced to miss the global tournament despite being selected as one of FIFA’s match officials.
The Somali referee had been included on FIFA’s official list of referees for the 2026 World Cup but was ultimately unable to participate after being denied entry into the United States.
