Snooker star Mark Williams shares concerning photo with oxygen tank—what happened?
Snooker legend Mark Williams alarmed fans by posting a photo on social media platform X, showing himself with nasal tubes connected to an oxygen tank. He captioned the picture: “Oxygen was needed at the interval.”
The image immediately sparked concern among his followers, who speculated about his health. However, Williams reassured fans, explaining that he was fine, and the oxygen use was due to his current location in Tibet.
Lhasa, the city where Williams is competing, is situated at an altitude of 3,656 meters, where the thin air can make it difficult to breathe. Visitors often need oxygen to avoid health issues related to high altitude.
Williams is participating in the Tianren Cup Lhasa Winter Plateau Snooker Challenge. It was during a break in one of the tournament matches that he required supplemental oxygen.
A three-time World Champion, Williams is currently ranked sixth in the global snooker standings. Despite the challenges of high-altitude conditions, he continues to compete at the top level of the sport.
