Slovenia – Serbia. Predicted line-ups and latest news, – June 20, 2024
The group stage of the European Championship is gaining momentum. The next match of the second round will be a meeting between Slovenia and Serbia.
Both teams failed to win in the first round: Slovenia drew 1-1 with Denmark, while Serbia lost to England 0-1. Therefore, in such a Balkan derby, each team will want to win to prolong their presence at the feast of European football.
As such, the teams have no personnel problems. Matjaž Kek will be able to count on all the players he called up for the European Championship, but not Dragan Stojković. The Serbian winger Filip Kostić was injured in the match against England, which is why the Juventus player will miss the continental championship.
Before the match, Slovenia midfielder Adam Gnezda Cerin spoke to the press service of the local federation, who noted that their manager believes in them:
"The coach really believes in this generation. We have a lot of potential, I sincerely hope that this is not the last big competition because we are a really great team with many good players. We really understand and respect each other and this is the Foundation on which success is built, I think we have every chance for this to be the new golden generation."
Before the match there was some bad news from the Serbian national team, which consisted in the conflict between the captain Dušan Tadić, who said a lot of things after the defeat against England, and the coach Dragan Stojkovic.
However, both sides of the conflict had a heart-to-heart talk, and the player apologised to the coach and the whole team. Now, in a good mood, the Serbs are preparing for the important meeting.
