Slot reacts to Kelleher's intentions to leave Liverpool
Earlier, Liverpool's backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher expressed his desire to leave Anfield in search of more game time. His manager Arne Slot was sympathetic to the Irishman's desire.
As the Dutchman stated, he shares Kelleher's intentions to play more and thinks it is quite normal, but at the same time he urged to realise that Liverpool's number one right now is Alisson:
‘I would be very worried if a player came out and said: ‘I don't care about playing in the first team, I like it so much on the bench and I want to stay there for the rest of my life.’ That would be a big worry for me.
It's normal that they want to play, but it's also normal that a big club like this, which is trying to compete for trophies, has more than 11 players. As long as they accept their position - not in the sense that they don't care, but that they can help the team when needed.
But at this point, it's pretty clear that Alisson is No. 1. It's a normal situation when a player who doesn't play wants to play, but he is handling the situation very well,’ Slot is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
