Six competitions planned by WAFU-A in 2026
The West African Football Union - A (WAFU) officially announced its competition schedule on Friday, 20 February.
Six tournaments are scheduled for 2026. The competitions will kick off with the Under-20 Women's Zonal Tournament. It is scheduled to take place from 1 to 20 March 2026 in Guinea-Bissau. This will be followed by the Women's League Championship qualifying tournament. This will be held in The Gambia from 25 July to 9 August.
Senegal will host the Under-17 qualifying tournament for the African Cup of Nations. This competition will be held from 1 to 20 September. Mali will host the WAFU-A Under-20 qualifying tournament from 6 to 26 October. Liberia will close this chapter from 21 to 28 November with the Under-15 girls' qualifying tournament.
The Amilcar Cabral Cup tournament is making a comeback. It will be hosted by Guinea from 15 to 30 August 2026.
The West African Football Union-A (WAFU) comprises Gambia, Cape Verde, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
