Sipho Mbule’s Next Move? Talent in Limbo After Chiefs Denial
Amid growing speculation linking Sipho Mbule with a high-profile switch to Kaizer Chiefs, the player’s agent Mike Makaab has put the rumours to rest—there's no deal in place.
Chiefs Rumours Dismissed
The 27-year-old midfielder became a free agent after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, following a short-lived loan spell at Sekhukhune United that was terminated due to disciplinary issues, including reports of showing up to training under the influence of alcohol.
Despite the off-field controversies, Mbule remains a fan favourite, with many Chiefs supporters urging the club to sign him. But Makaab insists there’s been no contact from Naturena.
“I don’t know where the talks that Sipho Mbule is going to Kaizer Chiefs are coming from, There hasn’t been any formal approach from any team. We’re still exploring all the best possible options.” Makaab told FARPost.
Talent vs Discipline
Former Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana weighed in, cautioning that while Mbule’s talent is undeniable, any club signing him must be prepared to offer strong off-field support.
“With talent alone, you’re guaranteed to enjoy and win matches. But outside football, he’s going to need help,” Kekana told SABC Sport.
Mbule’s Recent Record
2024/25 season at Sekhukhune:
- 17 appearances
- 2 goals, 3 assists
- Loan cut short due to disciplinary issues
At Sundowns (2022–2025):
- 51 matches
- 3 goals, 1 assist
- What’s Next?
With Kaizer Chiefs out of the picture for now, Mbule’s future remains uncertain. Makaab and his team continue the search for a new club—but potential suitors will need to weigh his raw talent against his off-field baggage.
