The first Grand Slam tournament of 2025, the Australian Open, has concluded. The men’s singles final featured a clash between the world’s top two players, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.

Details: In the first set, the Italian held the upper hand, although the players were evenly matched in the first six games. Sinner managed to pull ahead in the final three games to secure the set.

The second set saw Zverev gaining momentum, taking the lead five times. However, the set was decided in a tiebreak, where Sinner once again proved stronger.

The third set turned into a formality as Zverev, seemingly resigned to his fate, conceded the set 3-6. With this performance, Sinner defeated the German in straight sets to claim the first major men’s singles title of the season.

Australian Open – Men’s Singles Final
Jannik Sinner (No. 1 ATP) – Alexander Zverev (No. 2 ATP) – 3:0 (6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3)

Reminder: Sinner’s triumph marks his second consecutive Australian Open title. Last year, he defeated "neutral" Russian Daniil Medvedev in a marathon match lasting nearly four hours.

In the women’s singles tournament, Madison Keys pulled off a sensational victory by defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
