Having sustained the injury during a training session following a collision with a teammate, the Senegalese defender has been unable to return to action. He missed Al Hilal’s match against Damac in the Saudi Pro League on Tuesday. At the post-match press conference, Simone Inzaghi addressed the Senegalese player’s situation. But the manager did not hide his astonishment.

In 30 years of experience in football, I have never seen an injury comparable to Koulibaly’s. It is very strange! A minor collision between Kalidou Koulibaly and his teammate in training caused a subcutaneous haematoma in the affected area.
