Amid the fanfare surrounding Leandro Paredes’s return, Boca Juniors confirmed its first player departure this transfer window. According to TyC Sports, 22-year-old midfielder Simón Rivero will join Tigre on an 18-month loan deal that includes a purchase option. Prior to the move, he will extend his contract with Boca.
Manager Miguel Ángel Russo informed Rivero that he was not part of his plans. As a result, the young midfielder was left out of the squad that traveled to the Club World Cup in the United States—alongside Cristian Lema and Esteban Rolón.
Rivero made his first-team debut in 2022, coming on in a win over Vélez and playing again briefly against Aldosivi. He later spent 2024 on loan at Unión, making 23 appearances, scoring once, and providing one assist under coach Cristian “Kily” González.
His exit may be the first of several. While Russo has drawn up a list of untouchable players, Boca’s leadership is open to listening to offers for the rest of the squad. However, they’ve made one thing clear: no contracts will be terminated during this transfer period.
