Simon Adingra makes Ajax debut
Having joined on loan from Sunderland during the summer transfer window, the Ivorian winger made his debut on Saturday 10 October in the home draw against NEC Nijmegen (1–1) in the Eredivisie.
The wait is finally over for Simon Adingra. Signed to bolster Ajax Amsterdam’s attack, the Ivory Coast international had not yet had the chance to take to the pitch in the Netherlands due to an ankle injury. This lay-off meant he had to wait patiently before returning to competitive action.
Against NEC Nijmegen, the 24-year-old finally came on as a substitute for the final half-hour of the match. Although the two sides shared the points, the Ivorian winger showed encouraging signs in his first few minutes for the Dutch club.
Simon Adingra stood out for his proactive play, although he was unable to make a decisive impact in this very first match of the season. These early signs will help him gradually find his rhythm again after several weeks on the sidelines.
Now well and truly settled into his adventure with Ajax Amsterdam, the Ivorian hopes to rack up more appearances and establish himself within his new team over the coming matches.
