Simeone Hails Osimhen After Atlético Hold Galatasaray

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has openly praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen after his Galatasaray side held the Spanish club to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday. Osimhen completed the full match days after limping off during Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 semi-final against Morocco and missing the third-place game versus Egypt.

Despite failing to score, the forward troubled Atlético’s defence with his pace and physical presence. Giuliano Simeone gave the visitors an early lead before Marcos Llorente’s own goal, following a Rolland Sallai cut-back, restored parity.

Speaking after the match, Simeone admitted, “Osimhen is very strong… very fast and very important for his team.” Osimhen later returned the praise, saying, “I love Diego Simeone… They play aggressively and have a clear identity,” adding that drawing with Atlético shows Galatasaray are “on the right track."
