Simba SC Stuns Al Masry in Epic Turnaround, Zamalek’s Title Defense Ends in Heartbreak

Simba SC produced an incredible turnaround to eliminate Egypt’s Al Masry and secure their place in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
After trailing 2-0 from the first leg, the Tanzanian side responded with a commanding 2-0 victory at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. The match went into extra time after goals from Elie Mpanzu and Steven Mukwala in the first half tied the overall score.
Simba was unable to find a winner in regular or extra time, even though they dominated possession in the second half. But the true hero came in the penalty shootout, where goalie Camara stopped two penalties to help Simba win 4-2 and secure their place in the next round.
The outcome of Zamalek's title defense is disappointing
In the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals, South Africa's Stellenbosch defeated defending champions Zamalek, ending their continental run in a heartbreaking fashion.
After a goalless draw in the first leg, Zamalek defeated 1-0 at home in Cairo. The game-winning goal was scored by Seedy Nduli in the 79th minute after a defensive error.
Important players like Zizo and Shikabala were not there, so Zamalek struggled to control the game and capitalize on their limited opportunities. Devastated by the result, the White Knights relinquish their throne in shock.
