On the night of Monday into Tuesday, December 24, the NHL regular-season clash between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers saw the Penguins' captain achieve a historic milestone.

Details: Sidney Crosby recorded three assists during the game, all in the first period, bringing his career total to 1,033 assists. With this, he has tied Mario Lemieux for the most assists in franchise history. Crosby is now just one assist away from breaking the Penguins' all-time record.

Notably, Pittsburgh dominated Philadelphia with a 7-3 victory. The team currently sits ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with 37 points after 36 games, trailing the playoff zone by just one point.

Additionally, Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov registered two assists in a single game, earning two points. This feat makes him only the fourth goaltender since 2017 to achieve two points in a single game.

Reminder: On December 26, the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship is set to begin. This year, the tournament returns to the birthplace of hockey—Canada. Stay tuned as our team provides key information about the upcoming competition.
