Shubman Gill won the prize because of his excellent performance against West Indies; he scored 333 runs in two games. In the first One Day International, India played against the West Indies. West Indies scored 295 off 7 balls, but Shubman Gill scored 110 off 108 balls, helping his team reach the target effortlessly and win by 8 wickets.

In the second One Day International game, West Indies batted first and set a target of 405 for India. As captain, Shubman Gill delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 223 off 133 balls, not out, to help his team reach 406 and win by 8 wickets again.

He has now won the player of the month award for the 5th time, starting in January 2023, September 2023, February 2025, and July 2025, breaking the record for the most player of the month wins.

Reacting to the achievement, Gill said: “It feels fantastic to win the player of the month award for the fifth time, and I am grateful to the panel for this honor. It was very satisfying to score those runs and even more special to be part of successful run chases in front of our home fans, whose support always gives us an extra boost on the pitch.”
