2024 Wimbledon doubles finalist Gabriela Dabrowski has shared shocking details about her health. In an Instagram post, the tennis star revealed that she spent the entire season battling breast cancer.
Dabrowski disclosed that she was diagnosed in April but chose to keep the devastating news private. Only her close family and friends were aware of her condition.
Gabriela explained that she first noticed lumps in her breast at the beginning of 2023. Initially, doctors found no cause for concern, but later tests confirmed that she had breast cancer.
The athlete assured fans that she is on the road to recovery, as the disease was detected early.
“My intentions in sharing some of my experience are to emphasise the quality of life one can maintain when cancer is detected early. When you have access to doctors and other health care practitioners who are highly skilled and dedicated to their craft, when you take care of your mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing, and when you surround yourself with people who truly have your back (and your front),” Dabrowski wrote.
