Shocking incident: 18-year-old Italian footballer in intensive care after knife attack in Naples
Young Italian footballer Bruno Petrone is in critical condition following a brutal attack in Naples. The midfielder sustained stab wounds as he was returning home late at night after visiting a bar.
According to Il Mattino, the attack took place after 1 a.m. in the Chiaia district. A group of teenagers on scooters approached the footballer, and without any verbal confrontation, one of them stabbed Petrone twice—once in the abdomen and once in the left side. The player lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground, while the attackers fled the scene.
The incident was captured by surveillance cameras, allowing emergency services to be called in quickly. The victim was rushed to San Paolo Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove his spleen. Bruno Petrone remains in intensive care, and his condition is described as serious.
Several hours after the attack, two teenagers—aged 15 and 17—turned themselves in to the police, accompanied by a lawyer. One admitted to stabbing Petrone. The search for other participants is ongoing as the police continue their investigation.
