Shock takeover confirmed! Alexandre Pato becomes co-owner of English club
Alexandre Pato has officially embarked on an unexpected new venture in English football administration.
Details: Former AC Milan and Chelsea forward Alexandre Pato has officially become a co-owner and strategic investor of English League Two side Northampton Town. The investment was carried out as part of the Sports Alpha Capital group, which successfully received full regulatory permission to purchase an equity stake in the club.
The landmark takeover was formally approved by both the Independent Football Regulator and the EFL, paving the way for vital financial stability as the fourth-tier outfit aims to settle accumulated debts following their painful relegation.
Pato was already spotted actively supporting his new project in person last weekend, watching from the stands as Northampton ground out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Newport County.
It is worth noting that Alexandre Pato enjoyed an illustrious playing career across Europe, notably scoring 63 goals in 150 matches for AC Milan, winning the Serie A title in 2011, and earning 27 caps for the Brazilian national team.
