Shock Resignation: Orsi and Gómez Leave Platense After Historic Title Win

In a stunning turn of events, Platense has parted ways with its coaching duo just ten days after winning the club’s first-ever top-flight championship. Sergio Gómez and Favio Orsi tendered their resignation, a move confirmed to La Nación by club officials on Wednesday.
The coaches, who joined Platense in early 2024, delivered an unforgettable campaign that culminated in the Apertura 2025 title. There were no reported internal disputes or job offers from other clubs. Instead, the decision appears to stem from a shared belief that their mission had been fully accomplished.
Under their leadership, Platense played 57 matches, recording 25 wins, 17 draws and 15 losses. More importantly, they transformed the team into a formidable, cohesive unit capable of outclassing traditional giants like Racing, River Plate and San Lorenzo en route to a 1-0 win over Huracán in the final.
Their triumph secured a berth in the 2026 Copa Libertadores and a spot in the upcoming Trofeo de Campeones. But Platense will now face those challenges under new guidance, as their beloved coaching duo steps away after etching their names in club history.
