Shock Ranking for Al Ahly in Club World Cup 2025

Al Ahly had a tough reality check recently when The Athletic reported that the Egyptian powerhouse was ranked 26th out of all the clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
Disappointing Display Hurts Al Ahly's Standing
The ranking, based on team performances and overall impact, comes as the tournament reaches its midpoint. Al Ahly's drop in the standings is largely attributed to their lackluster second-half display against Inter Miami and a defeat to Palmeiras, which left them with no wins so far in the group stage.

Global Powerhouses Dominate the Top
According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich leads the rankings as the tournament's most impressive team, followed by Brazilian side Flamengo, whose 3-1 victory over Chelsea boosted their status. Manchester City rounds out the top three.
Saudi Side Tops Arab Representation
Al Hilal, who finished in 12th position overall, was the best performance from the Arab world. Their placing was greatly influenced by their tie with Real Madrid, the European champions, which was considered a key highlight.

Pressure Mounts Ahead of Porto Clash
Al Ahly now has to pull off a huge shock against FC Porto with one game remaining in the group stage in order to salvage their pride and maintain their prospects of qualifying for the championship. Their early elimination and a memorable tournament may be assured by anything other than a resounding victory.
