Shock in the world of winter sports! 29-year-old freeride star killed in avalanche
An extreme expedition in the Argentine Andes has ended in an irreparable tragedy for the entire sporting world.
Details: Renowned French skier and global freeride star Juliette Willmann has tragically died at the age of 29 after being caught in a massive avalanche in Patagonia, Argentina.
The accident occurred while she was tackling a challenging route on the slopes of Cerro Crestón, located near the tourist hub of El Chaltén. During the descent, the athlete was suddenly engulfed by a colossal mass of dense snow. Rescue teams and fellow climbers quickly pulled her from beneath the debris, but her injuries proved fatal.
Born in Chamonix, Willmann was regarded as one of the brightest figures in her generation of extreme skiing. She earned immense respect across the international community for her courage, technical skill and relentless promotion of women's freeride on the planet's most challenging peaks.
It is worth noting that Juliette Willmann began her sporting career in traditional alpine skiing disciplines before switching to freeride. She went on to compete for five seasons on the elite Freeride World Tour, reaching the podium at several prestigious events.
