Today marks the final match of La Liga's 38th round and the entire season. At the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, Sevilla will host Barcelona.

This game holds little significance in terms of league standings for either team. Sevilla is firmly positioned in the table, and even a victory won't lift them above twelfth place. Barcelona, too, has secured their position and will finish the season in second place.

For the Catalans, this match carries symbolic weight as it will be their last under the stewardship of Xavi Hernández. The saga surrounding the departure of the Blaugrana legend has had several stages. In January, Xavi announced he would leave at the end of the season. In May, Barcelona’s management and the head coach announced their decision to extend their partnership. This week, however, club president Joan Laporta confirmed the final decision to part ways with Xavi.

Despite the lack of league implications, both teams are expected to field their strongest line-ups. Sevilla, after a disappointing season, will aim to please their fans in the final match, while Barcelona will seek to pay homage to Xavi.

Nevertheless, the coaches will be without some key players. Sevilla will miss Óliver Torres, Isaac Romero, and the team legend Jesús Navas, who could have played his final match. From next season, Navas will assume a position in the team's management. Barcelona’s injury list includes Alejandro Balde, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong.

Sevilla’s head coach Quique Sánchez Flores had a lengthy pre-match press conference. He stated:

“This [Sunday’s game] will undoubtedly be emotional for me. It will be the last game of a short, yet exhausting period of my life. It will feel strange because, on one hand, I achieved results during these intense months, but we will end the season satisfied with our efforts. I hope the fans see the beginning of a project that will bring their beloved team the success it deserves.”

Xavi Hernández, following Laporta’s announcement, posted on Instagram, expressing gratitude and affirming his support for Barcelona:

“I am not only a coach but a Barça fan and always wish the best for my club. From Sunday, I will be just another supporter in the stands.”

We can anticipate an action-packed match and a grand finale to the La Liga season. The Dailysports team has prepared potential starting line-ups based on the coaches' previous choices.
