Sevilla Boss Matías Almeyda Explains Decision to Drop Akor Adams in Valencia Defeat
“I Wasn’t Happy with Akor’s Last Game” – Almeyda Explains Sevilla Selection Call
Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has revealed why Akor Adams was left out of the starting lineup during his side’s 2-0 loss to Valencia on Saturday, pointing to dissatisfaction with the striker’s recent performance.
Speaking after the defeat, Almeyda explained that his decision was based on squad rotation and the need to evaluate his attacking options. The Argentine coach admitted he was not impressed with Adams’ display in Sevilla’s previous match against Barcelona, prompting the change.
“We have three strikers, and I’m trying them out to see who can deliver the goals,” Almeyda said. “I brought Neal back after his injury. I wasn’t happy with Akor’s last game, so we rotated the squad. It’s very difficult to keep everyone satisfied.”
