Suspected stroke? Doctors treated Bentancur on the field for nine minutes
Liverpool and Tottenham faced off in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals, but the match was overshadowed by a concerning incident involving Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur early in the game.
Details: During a corner kick, Bentancur positioned himself to head the ball but fell awkwardly, immediately requiring medical assistance. The medical team treated him on the pitch for nearly nine minutes before he was carried off on a stretcher.
Footage also captured the moment when Tottenham assistant coach explained to Ange Postecoglou that Bentancur had landed on his head in an unnatural position, necessitating urgent care.
There is also speculation that Bentancur may have suffered a stroke. A video from a different angle was shared online with the caption: "Bentancur had a stroke. You can tell by his jaw and facial expression."
Reminder: Tottenham has officially announced that the club has activated the option to automatically extend the contract of legendary forward Son Heung-min.
