Sergio Ramos, James Rodríguez Headline LIGA MX All-Stars to Face MLS on July 23

The LIGA MX unveiled its 28-man All-Star roster on Wednesday for the 2025 showdown against Major League Soccer, set for July 23 at Q2 Stadium in Austin. Among the headline names are Spanish legend Sergio Ramos, Colombian playmaker James Rodríguez, and Gold Cup 2025 champion Alexis Vega.

The squad, as detailed by the league, was built through three channels: Ballon d’Or nominees from the LIGA MX season, selections by head coach André Jardine, and two final picks yet to be announced by commissioner Mikel Arriola. Jardine, who led Club América to a third straight league title, returns to the All-Star bench after being named Coach of the Year.

The roster balances star power with emerging talent. Sixteen-year-old Gilberto Mora, fresh off Mexico’s Gold Cup victory, becomes the youngest player ever to represent LIGA MX in an All-Star Game. Other rising stars include Hugo Camberos (18) and Elías Montiel (19).

Five players each from Toluca and Cruz Azul earned selection, reflecting their dominance in the Clausura and Concacaf Champions Cup, respectively. The match will air worldwide in multiple languages on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass.

LIGA MX will aim for back-to-back All-Star wins after a 4-1 triumph in 2024, with MLS holding victories in the 2021 and 2022 editions.
