Sergio Ramos After Monterrey’s Triumph: “This Is Historic for the Club”

Monterrey booked their place in the round of 16 at the Club World Cup with a dominant 4-0 win over Urawa Red Diamonds at the Rose Bowl, and the emotions were running high. “It’s something historic for our club,” said veteran center-back Sergio Ramos, celebrating a night to remember with his teammates.
“There were doubts from the start. Expectations were low, but we delivered a serious performance—pressing high, recovering the ball early, with clear ideas,” Ramos noted. “This took great effort, but we handled it well.”
The star of the night was striker Germán Berterame, who netted twice and admitted even he was caught off guard: “Honestly, I didn’t expect this. We came to win, but everything went perfectly. It was a dream night.”
Next up for Rayados is a high-profile clash with Borussia Dortmund. Midfielder Oliver Torres knows the challenge but trusts his team’s momentum. “Qualifying from the group wasn’t easy. If we give our best, we can compete with anyone,” he said. “We’ve already made history, now we want to keep going.”
