Today, at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, the qualifying session for the Australian Grand Prix took place. Crossing the finish line first was the reigning Formula 1 champion, Max Verstappen, followed by Carlos Sainz from Ferrari in second place, and Sergio Perez from Red Bull completing the top three.

However, it has now been revealed that the Mexican driver has been penalized three grid positions for impeding Nico Hülkenberg in the first segment, thereby affecting his performance.

The penalty imposed on Sergio Perez allowed his competitors Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri from McLaren, as well as Charles Leclerc from Ferrari, to move up one spot in the qualifying list for the Australian Grand Prix.

Now, the starting grid looks as follows:

  1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
  2. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari)
  3. Lando Norris (McLaren)
  4. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)
  5. Oscar Piastri (McLaren)
  6. Sergio Perez (Red Bull)

It is worth reminding that the Australian Grand Prix will take place tomorrow, on March 24th. The race is scheduled to start at 5:00 Central European Time.
