Sensational Girona is interested in ex-Barcelona midfielder

This winter, central midfielder Nico González could make a move from Porto to Girona, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

In the 22-year-old Spaniard, Girona sees the perfect option to strengthen the central midfield, especially since the club failed to acquire a replacement for Oriol Romeu, who moved to Barcelona during the summer.

Nico González is eager to leave Porto due to a lack of playing time, but the club is not in a hurry to let him go. The Dragons are willing to agree only to a very good offer.

Porto acquired González last summer from Barcelona for 8.4 million euros. In the current season, he has participated in 15 matches in all competitions, but only started in the initial lineup for 5 of them. He has not been particularly prolific in terms of goals or assists.

In the 2021/22 season, Nico Gonzalez played 37 games for Barcelona, scored 2 goals and made 2 assists. He spent last season on loan at Valencia.

It's worth noting that over the weekend, Girona defeated Atlético in an incredible match (4:3). After the first round, they unexpectedly hold the second position with 48 points. Only Real Madrid surpasses them based on additional criteria.
