Senegal’s Coach Confirms Preparation Strategy Despite Early Qualification

Senegal’s national local team coach, Souleymane Diallo, has confirmed that he began planning for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) even before securing qualification. Senegal sealed their spot in the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Liberia on Saturday.

“I planned ahead, even before the double-header against Liberia. I made a schedule leading up to February,” Diallo stated at a press conference. The CHAN 2025 will be held from February 1 to 28 across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Diallo stressed how crucial it is to get his youthful team ready for difficult African competitions. He pointed out that "many players are new, and nine out of 21 are juniors," underscoring both the difficulties and the room for improvement.

As defending champions, Senegal will aim for a second consecutive title at this prestigious competition for domestic-based players.
