Senegalese players stranded in the US following their World Cup elimination
The special flight originally scheduled to bring the Lions of Teranga home has been cancelled.
Senegal’s troubles at the 2026 World Cup are far from over. Following a chaotic campaign punctuated by a dramatic exit in the round of 16, the Senegalese team is facing difficulties returning home.
The special flight due to repatriate the Senegalese delegation has been cancelled, even though the team was already at the airport, according to reports from Dsports. However, some international players are said to have left US soil. Pape Gueye, Edouard Mendy, Mory Diaw and Ismail Jakobs left the day after the Lions of Teranga were knocked out.
Krepin Diatta, Yehvann Diouf, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Kalidou Koulibaly have also left the United States. But several players are still at the hotel awaiting their return.
