Although Nampalys Mendy is still sidelined at RC Lens, a move is still possible. The Senegalese international remained at Stade Rennais despite having intentions to join before the winter transfer window ended. Clubs outside of Europe are now interested in him.

The 32-year-old has played just five times this season, with only 111 minutes in Ligue 1. Lens coach Will Still does not count on him, leaving Mendy without a future at the club. While he previously rejected offers from Saudi Arabia, he could now move to Major League Soccer (MLS) or the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Two UAE teams are also in the running, while New York City FC and another MLS team have expressed interest, according to RMC Sport. These leagues still permit signings, in contrast to Europe, where the transfer window is closed. UAE teams have until February 11 to complete transfers, while the MLS window is open until April.

After unsuccessful negotiations with Rennes and Saint-Étienne, Lens is eager to get rid of Mendy. In a league where transfers are still feasible, Mendy may soon find a new challenge, much like David Pereira Da Costa, who is close to joining the Portland Timbers.
